4th of July 2010

So, for the 4th of July, remember a couple of things ... tortilla chips over corn on the cob, no mayo based salads and if you're going to choose between hot dogs or hamburgers, I think I' rather go with the burger, at least you know what's in it, the quality of the beef can leaner and you don't get all the chemicals.

yep, that's the ticket.

What else, when faced with a buffet table, the wiser choices would be fruit, veggies (snore), and maybe some type of salad with the dressing on the side. Good/Bad salad choices:  spinach, pasta, or something else of that nature, no, not macaroni/potato/carrot raisin (sugar bomb, that I don't even think tastes that good).

Condiments:  Mustard is best, sliced tomatoes, pickles, lettuce ... skip the ketchup and mayo (sugar and fat), and you should be good for the day.

But, we are forgetting Dessert, after all, what is more "American" than apple pie? If you've been wise with your other choices, have some. Just think about balance in what you're eating.
